Dear Family and Friends,

Welcome to our annual charity golf tournament—and thank you for being part of this incredible tradition.

What began in 2003 as a way to support my brother, Martin Wallem, after his ALS diagnosis has grown into something far bigger than we ever imagined. Martin was diagnosed with ALS at just 31 years old and faced this devastating disease with extraordinary courage, strength, humor, and determination for many years before passing away in 2020.

Today, we continue this event in Martin’s memory and in celebration of the remarkable community that has stood beside our family throughout this journey.

Over the past 23+ years, this tournament—affectionately known as “Marty’s Party”—has become much more than a golf outing. It is a day filled with friendship, laughter, remembrance, and generosity. Whether you’re one of our longtime participants or joining us for the first time, you are helping us honor Martin’s legacy while making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Through the Martin Wallem ALS Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization, proceeds from this event support organizations that were deeply meaningful to Martin and his family during his battle with ALS:

ALS Association – Northern New England Chapter
Providing critical equipment, resources, advocacy, and support services for individuals and families living with ALS.

Adaptive Sports Partners of the North Country (ASPNC)
Helping individuals with disabilities continue pursuing outdoor adventures and activities they love through adaptive recreation programs.

Hope Loves Company
Supporting children and young adults who have a loved one affected by ALS through camps, peer connections, and community programs.

HARK – Hope on the Horizon
Raising ALS awareness and helping ease the financial burdens many ALS families face while honoring the memory of Martin and our dear friend Josh Valentine.

Every year, I am overwhelmed by the support, kindness, and enthusiasm of this community. One of my favorite moments is hearing first-time attendees say, “We’re coming back next year.” Those words remind us why we continue this event year after year.

Thank you for supporting this mission, honoring Martin’s memory, and helping us create another unforgettable Marty’s Party.
